Responsibilities Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treating patients throughout the perioperative phase. The CRNA is accountable to patients for the delivery of appropriate, effective quality nursing and anesthesia care and services consistent with the ANA Code for Nurses, Standards of Nursing Practice and Patient Care Standards established by the Department of Anesthesia. Reviews charts, identifies patient and surgical procedures and insures that each patient's permit and date are completed prior to administering anesthesia. If permit or date is incomplete, reports this information to the Anesthesiologist. Insures that anesthesia pre-op note has been completed for each patient and that anesthetic plan has been discussed with the Anesthesiologist prior to the patient's arrival in the O.R. suite and documented.
